NOAH, an acronym for Neighborhood Old Age Homes, is a non-profit organization established in 1981 by the Catholic Welfare & Development Institution. Operating from twin community centers in Woodstock and Khayelitsha, respectively, NOAH provides invaluable social, financial, and wellness support to every pensioner. Eleven houses, an assisted living facility, and two primary health care clinics offer a holistic model of support to over 730 social pensioners.
The objective is to restore dignity, respect, and life-affordability to social pensioners so that the elderly remain active, engaged, and independent within their communities. Enabling purposeful and dignified lives, NOAH recognizes and honors the tremendous role senior citizens play in families and communities, ensuring the children and grandchildren are cared for and protected. The organization works towards building healthier communities by empowering and enabling pensioners to fulfill their rightful roles and advocates their needs through collaboration with sector partners and forming working partnerships with government.
