Moya We Khaya “Spirit of Home” Growing Tunnel

Uthando sponsored the repairs of the growing tunnel at the Moya we Khaya “spirit of home” vegetable garden in Khayelitsha. A devastating winter storm destroyed the tunnel earlier in 2019 . The tunnel is an important element of producing high quality organic vegetables during the hot summer months. The repairs involved installing woven transparent fabric for front and back of the tunnel, polythene and shade net black over the entire tunnel. The garden was founded by Mama Christina Kaba and her team of passionate micro farmers in 2014. It is 1 hectare in size and is situated next to the Manyanani Peace Park in Khayelitsha.
