Adrienne Belafonte Biesemeyer
We were really blessed and grateful to spend an afternoon with Adrienne Belafonte Biesemeyer, her daughter Rachel Blue and a group of friends and colleagues (board members of their foundation) from the USA. Adrienne is extraordinary in her own right, but of course her father Harry Belafonte is a truly iconic activist, artist, actor and campaigner for human rights globally. It was quite amazing how children were automatically drawn to her warm, kind and charismatic energy.
Andrew Warth from Zama Dance School wrote the following after the visit :
“When the eldest daughter of legendary singer, Harry Belafonte visits your ballet school you know it’s going to be special. We were so excited to meet Adrienne Belafonte and her daughter Rachel Blue yesterday afternoon when Uthando South Africa came to visit. Adrienne grew up in a family that was heavily involved in the arts and she is renowned for her contribution to our industry. She is also known for her involvement in the development of the Ballet National Djoliba of Guinea. What a privilege for us all at Zama Dance School to have met her.”
