We were really blessed and grateful to spend an afternoon with Adrienne Belafonte Biesemeyer, her daughter Rachel Blue and a group of friends and colleagues (board members of their foundation) from the USA.
We were really excited to recently host Angus Begg, a journalist from one of South Africa’s most reputable weekly newspaper, The Daily Maverick.

On the 16th of February 2023 we were honoured to be part of a historic day in South Africa. In January, we contacted the Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) with the request that they take responsibility for the preservation of Mama Kaba’s “dompas” and record her story for posterity.
It is hard not to feel full of optimism, hope, joy and inspiration when visiting Zama Dance School in Gugulethu. After an absence of two years due to Covid-19, it was wonderful to be back at Zama for their year-end performance.

Uthando was invited to be part of the 90th birthday celebrations of one of the oldest Christmas Bands, the Young Guiding Stars Sacred String Band.
With soaring petrol prices and cost of food, supporting the organic micro farming movement through Abalimi Bezkhaya is very important at this time.

Ludwe Qamata is the gardener who is based at the Sinovuyo Seniors Centre in Khayelitsha. He is part of the “Ghetto Gardener” movement and Uthando is very proud to work with him and support his efforts.
This post is not related to the work of Uthando, but I thought that some of our clients would find it interesting. A big part of our “tour” is informing visitors about the history of South Africa.
Uthando is passionate about exposing local community activists to the amazing tourism sites in Cape Town. They work so hard building their communities and rarely get to enjoy their own city.
