Likho Receives The Gift Of Sight

Part of the 2023 We Are Africa donation sponsored young Likho to receive his scleral lenses.

Director of Eyes2Eyes, Amanda Seccombe sent the following email to describe the feeling of the lenses being fitted into Likho’s eyes :

“WOW!
What an incredible morning!

Young Likho travelled all the way from rural Butterworth, in the Eastern Cape to receive his precious gift of sight!
That’s quite a #journey – and when you can’t see it’s an even bigger challenge.

Likho’s bus trip across 10 hours on his way #home will be a whole lot easier.
He is also going to see the beautiful countryside for the first time in many years.

@uthandosa we are so incredibly grateful to you for hearing this young man’s story!
He has never given up hope of seeing again – thanks to your incredible support Likho can finish Grade 11 this year with crystal clear sight. His final year at school is now well in sight!

His mom is overcome with gratitude and excitement that her son no longer has to live with unnecessary blindness.
