The Amy Foundation (formerly named the Amy Biehl Foundation) is a non-profit organization offering development programs to young children and adults. Over 2000 participants daily between the ages of 5 and 35, the community’s youth faced with the challenges of living within vulnerable communities in Cape Town, the programs supplement the shortcomings of the educational system with the inclusion of creativity, music, movement, and experiential learning. The programs enable the development of emotionally well-rounded individuals, help them make positive life choices, and become contributing members of society. Positive effects on the communities, such as reducing the levels of crime, gangs, drugs, HIV / Aids, and violence, are ongoing. Educational and cultural activities include after-school care, music, art, drama, dance, sport, and environmental education.
